How to choose
How to choose a 3D scanner
Start with the object: size, tolerance and surface. Structured-light stationary scanners suit parts under half a metre with tolerances of hundredths of a millimetre. Handheld laser scanners with markers or optical tracking suit assemblies and car bodies. Terrestrial laser and mobile SLAM scanners cover buildings, sites and mine workings.
For metrology, look beyond nominal accuracy: volumetric accuracy, repeatability and registration in the national measuring instruments register matter. An EXAMETRA engineer will run a demo on your part and pick the model and software.
