Handheld 3D scanner: what matters
A handheld 3D scanner digitizes an object without a fixed setup: the operator moves the scanner around the part and the software builds the point cloud in real time. Metrology-grade models track reflective positioning markers to locate themselves in space.
Accuracy is the error of a single frame; volumetric accuracy is the accumulated error over the object length (e.g. 0.015 mm + 0.030 mm/m). For large parts this is what matters, and photogrammetry — built-in or external — reduces it.
