3DeVOK MQ 3D scanning + TPM3D 3D printing: creating custom medical orthoses

Industry: Medicine Request: Creating custom medical orthoses Equipment: 3DeVOK MQ 3D scanner, TPM3D 3D printer

3D scanning is a vital technology in medical research centers. 3D scanners can produce an accurate 3D model of the human body or its individual parts for diagnosis, treatment planning, and the manufacture of custom prostheses and orthopedic devices. Today we will look at the last of these in more detail, using the 3DeVOK MQ 3D scanner and the TPM3D 3D printer as an example. At the "Zhongshan Chen Xinghai" Hospital of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, the 3DeVOK MQ 3D scanner was used to scan patients' spines, wrists and ankles. Combined with the SLS printing technology of TPM3D 3D printers, this solution made it possible to create fully custom orthopedic devices that reflected each patient's individual features.

Scoliosis correction. Creating a custom spinal orthosis

The 3DeVOK MQ 3D scanner was used to create the custom spinal orthosis. It is designed specifically for scanning portraits, body parts, and medium and large objects (30 cm and larger). The scanner supports accurate, fast scanning with an ultra-wide working area of up to 1100 × 1000 mm. With accuracy of up to 0.08 mm, the 3DeVOK MQ provides highly detailed 3D data, giving a reliable basis for designing custom spinal orthoses.

Wrist and hand orthosis

The 3DeVOK MQ captures detailed 3D data of the patient's wrist, allowing precise design of specialized orthoses. A contactless scanning process, infrared beams and structured infrared VCSEL light, together with eye-safe lasers, ensure patient comfort and safety while providing accurate anatomical information. The 3D scanner can also capture the true color of the object.

Ankle orthosis

The 3DeVOK MQ was also used to make ankle orthoses. Orthopedic braces and insoles created from a 3D model of the patient are much more accurate than plaster casts, since they can account for individual anatomy. Thanks to the high scanning speed, the new technology delivers the necessary information quickly. Equally important is the portability of the device: the 3DeVOK MQ is compact and wireless, so it can scan anywhere. No markers are needed during scanning, which makes working with the device more comfortable.

The 3DeVOK brand

3DeVOK, a sub-brand of SCANTECH (HANGZHOU) CO., LTD., specializes in non-metrology 3D scanners. 3DeVOK offers powerful, affordable and easy-to-use 3D scanning solutions that deliver accuracy, creativity and efficiency across a wide range of applications, from reverse engineering and cultural heritage preservation to medical innovation.
